Restaurants and Bars
Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort delivers a genuinely impressive dining line-up for a single resort, mixing buffet ease with à la carte variety and plenty of sea views.
Alexandros Restaurant is the main buffet venue, serving breakfast and dinner with live show-cooking stations and a rotating mix of Cretan, Greek and international dishes. Highchairs and a children’s menu keep younger guests happy, while the hotel requests that beachwear is not worn in the restaurant.
For something more intimate, Garden Restaurant offers an à la carte dinner menu marrying local and international flavours, while Lemon Grass Asian Restaurant sits right by the beach with Chinese, Thai and Japanese favourites against a sea-breeze backdrop.
At lunch, Taverna Meltemi by the pool serves buffet and à la carte options including Greek classics, Italian pasta and more relaxed international dishes. In the evenings, Trattoria Oliva specialises in Italian cuisine – think wood-fired-style pizzas and fresh pasta – ideal for laid-back suppers.
Drinks flow from a choice of bars:
• Apollo Pool Bar for daytime ice-cold drinks by the water
• Poseidon Pool Bar for snacks and refreshments
• Beach Club Bar for drinks and bites with sandy toes (seasonal opening)
• Dionysos Lobby Bar for pre-dinner cocktails
• Plaza Lounge Bar on the terrace for long, starry evenings
A smart-casual dress code may apply in some venues. Reservations can be required for à la carte restaurants and certain items or venues may carry a supplement depending on your chosen board basis. Opening dates and times are seasonal and subject to change.
Pool Areas and Beach
With its beachfront location, Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort gives you the best of both pool and sea.
There are four outdoor freshwater pools dotted through the gardens, including a main pool with children’s section and whirlpool, plus quieter pools where you can settle in with a book. A separate splash park with waterfall features keeps younger guests busy for hours (opening hours and age/height restrictions may apply). Sunbeds and parasols line the pool terraces, and free pool towels are provided.
For cooler days or a peaceful hour away from the bustle, the hotel also has a heated indoor freshwater pool reserved for adults, usually heated between April and May.
Just beyond the gardens, the Blue Flag sandy beach stretches in front of the resort. The shore shelves gently into the Mediterranean, making it especially appealing for families and less confident swimmers. The Beach Club pool and bar create a relaxed beach-club vibe in high season, with sunbeds and parasols available.
Spa, Sports and Other Facilities

FAQs | Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort right on the beach?
Yes. The resort has a true beachfront position in Stalis, with a Blue Flag sandy beach immediately in front of the hotel. You can walk from the gardens or pool area directly onto the sand in just a few steps.
2. What board options can I book at Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort?
You can choose from Bed and Breakfast, Half Board or Full Board. Half Board typically includes breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant, while Full Board adds lunch – but exact inclusions, opening times and any drinks policies should always be checked at the hotel on arrival.
3. How far is Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort from Stalis and Malia?
The hotel is about 1km from the centre of Stalis, easily walkable along the seafront, and roughly 2km from Malia resort centre. Local buses and taxis are readily available if you prefer not to walk, and the small tourist “Happy Train” also runs along this stretch of coast in season.
4. Is Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort suitable for children?
Very much so. Families benefit from a kids’ club for 4–12 year-olds, a splash park and children’s pool sections, family rooms and suites, kids’ menus in several restaurants and a busy entertainment programme with mini-disco and family activities. The gently shelving sandy beach in front of the hotel is also ideal for little ones.
5. Does the hotel have lifts or is it suitable for guests with limited mobility?
The resort is set out like a low-rise village, with two-storey buildings and no lifts. Paths meander through gardens and some areas involve steps, so while many guests with moderate mobility manage comfortably, it may not be ideal for those who rely heavily on lift access. Mobility scooters can be hired locally via reception, subject to availability and local charge.
6. What leisure and wellness facilities are available on site?
Guests have access to a well-equipped, air-conditioned gym (17yrs+), aerobics and aqua classes, several outdoor pools, an indoor adults-only pool, a sauna and a spa offering massage and beauty treatments (treatments at extra cost). There are also courts and equipment for tennis, badminton and team sports, plus table tennis and darts.
7. What is the typical dress code in the restaurants?
The main Alexandros Restaurant and à la carte venues generally operate a smart-casual dress code in the evenings. Beachwear and swimwear are not usually permitted at dinner, and the hotel may request long trousers or tailored shorts for men in certain restaurants. It’s best to bring a set of slightly smarter outfits for evening meals.
8. Is Wi‑Fi available throughout Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort?
Complimentary Wi‑Fi is available in the reception and lounge areas. Coverage may extend to other parts of the hotel, but speeds and reliability can vary, so we recommend downloading any key content (e‑books, films, maps) before you travel if you rely heavily on connectivity.
9. How long is the transfer from Heraklion Airport to the hotel?
The coach transfer from Heraklion Airport (HER) to Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on traffic, time of day and the number of en-route drop-offs. Private transfers may be somewhat quicker.
10. Are there quiet areas for couples at Alexander Beach Hotel & Village Resort?
Yes. Although the resort is very family-friendly, its village-style layout means there are quieter pockets, especially around some of the smaller pools, the spa and indoor pool area, and in many of the garden- or beachfront-view rooms and suites. Couples looking for extra tranquillity often opt for Luxury Superior rooms, junior suites or the deluxe beachfront bungalows.
