Discover Mongolia: Gobi Desert & Ger Camps – 13 Days
Steppe, Gobi dunes and nomad life, with nine nights in traditional ger camps.
Tour overview
This 13-day trip crosses Mongolia's steppe and the Gobi Desert with a tour leader and a group of four to sixteen. You spend nine nights in traditional ger camps — felt tents with stoves and shared bathrooms — and three in hotels, with all meals included.
From Ulaanbaatar and the Gandan Monastery you head to Khustain Nuruu to look for wild Przewalski's horses, then on to the Little Gobi and Karakorum, Genghis Khan's old capital, with its Erdene Zuu Monastery.

Leaving the tourist trail you cross into the Gobi to see rock paintings, climb the Khongor Singing Dunes and walk at the Flaming Cliffs of Bayanzag, famous for dinosaur fossils.
A flight returns you to Ulaanbaatar for a final night in a ger camp in Terelj National Park. The physical rating is medium, with long drives on rough tracks.

What financial protection do I get?
Every Travelisto booking is 100% financially protected. Your money is held in a ring-fenced Trust account until you return from your trip, and we are members of the Protected Trust Services scheme (PTS 6035). Most tours also include ATOL protection where flights are part of the package.
Do I need a visa for Mongolia?
UK citizens can currently visit Mongolia visa-free for up to 30 days; check the latest FCDO advice before you travel.
What are the ger camps like?
Gers are round felt tents with beds and usually a stove; bathrooms are shared and hot water can be erratic.
Which meals are included?
12 breakfasts, 11 lunches and 12 dinners.
Can I have my own room?
A single supplement may be available; otherwise solo travellers share with someone of the same gender.
How many people travel together?
Between four and sixteen, with a tour leader.
Can you tailor the trip?
Yes — every escorted tour can be modified into a private tailor-made version with your own dates, adjusted pace, upgraded hotels and add-on extensions. Tell us what you'd like changed when you enquire and we'll quote it both ways so you can compare.
What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
Not quite the right fit? Make it tailor-made.
If this group tour doesn't match your ideal trip, our specialists will turn it into a private tailor-made journey — your own dates, your own pace, upgraded hotels where you want them, and the parts you don't love swapped out. Same destinations, just rebuilt around you.
