Map & location
Funchal, Madeira, Portugal
Pestana Village Resort sits just above Funchal’s coastline on the popular Estrada Monumental, a leafy avenue lined with cafés, lidos and sea-view promenades. The resort’s elevated position gives many rooms and terraces glimpses of the bay, while its 5,000m² of gardens create a peaceful contrast to the bustle of town.
You’re a short stroll from local shops, bars and restaurants, and about 1.5km from Funchal’s historic centre – easy to reach on foot for those who enjoy a walk, or by hopping on the bus right outside the hotel. From here, you can explore the famous Mercado dos Lavradores, ride the cable car to Monte or join a levada walk into Madeira’s mountains.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
The resort offers a choice of inviting pools framed by mature gardens and terracotta terraces. At Pestana Village and neighbouring Pestana Miramar you’ll find:
• 2 outdoor freshwater pools, some heated seasonally, each with sunbathing areas, loungers and parasols
• An indoor freshwater pool with whirlpool – a handy option on cooler days
Complimentary pool towels are provided, and the gardens create lots of shady spots to read or snooze. While there’s no direct beach, Funchal’s famous lido complex and Praia Formosa’s black-sand and pebble beaches are only a short bus or taxi ride away, with seafront cafés and a coastal promenade to stroll.
Spa, sports & wellness
Wellness is a strong suit here. The shared spa and leisure facilities with Pestana Miramar include:
• Spa with sauna, steam room, Turkish bath and whirlpool (min age 14yrs, local charges)
• Range of massage and beauty treatments, plus on-site hairdresser (charge)
• Well-equipped gym with cardio machines, free weights and stretching area (min age 14yrs, approx. 08:00–20:00)
In the evenings there’s low-key entertainment most nights of the year – typically live music or piano sessions that suit the relaxed, garden-resort atmosphere rather than a full-on party scene.
Around the property you’ll also find plenty of lounge areas, garden paths to wander and quiet corners where you can simply sit and enjoy the views over Funchal and the Atlantic.

Food & drink
The “Village & Miramar” concept really shines at mealtimes. Pestana Village guests have access to a generous buffet plus characterful à la carte venues in both sections of the complex, giving you variety without leaving the resort.
Restaurant A Vila is the main buffet, serving breakfast and dinner with live cooking stations and plenty of choice for both kids and adults. For more intimate evenings, Adega Restaurant and the Miramar Restaurant (both in the Miramar section) offer à la carte dining with international and Madeiran flavours – ideal for making the most of the flexible Half Board.
Daytimes are covered by Pausa Burger, a terrace spot for casual lunches, snacks and show-cooked burgers. After dark, Bar A Fonte and Bar Miramar mix cocktails in cosy, wood-panelled surroundings, while Bar A Proa keeps drinks flowing by the pool.
Smart-casual dress is requested in the evening (no beachwear, long trousers for gentlemen in some venues). Reservations and supplements may apply depending on your chosen board basis and season; details are confirmed locally.
