Map & location
Valletta, Malta and Gozo, Spain
Set within Valletta’s UNESCO-listed walled city, AX The Saint John places you right in the middle of Malta’s cultural heart. Step outside onto narrow, honey-coloured streets lined with cafés, grand palazzos and churches; Manoel Theatre, Upper Barrakka Gardens and the Co-Cathedral can all be reached on foot. The main bus station is about 1km away, putting the rest of the island – from Mdina to the Three Cities and sandy northern beaches – within easy day-tripping distance.
- Approx. transfer time from airport 30 Minutes
Facilities
Pool & outdoors
AX The Saint John does not have a pool – it’s very much a city boutique rather than a resort hotel – but you’re well placed to reach Malta’s waterfront and beaches. St George’s Bay and the sandy stretches of the north are easily reached by public bus or taxi for a day by the sea, while harbourfront promenades and ferry links to Sliema are within walking distance from Valletta’s gates.
Spa, sports & wellness
This is a compact, design-led property with a focus on comfortable rooms and a stylish social space rather than extensive leisure facilities. There is no on-site spa or gym, but guests spend their days exploring Valletta’s streets, museums, galleries and harbour viewpoints.
On the practical side, there is a small reception (services handled in conjunction with nearby Rosselli AX Privilege) offering concierge-style assistance and currency exchange*. Lift access connects all main floors, making it easier to navigate the historic building.
