Spain & Portugal to Barcelona: Lisbon, Seville & Granada – 15 Days
Madrid, Porto, Lisbon, Seville, Granada, Valencia and Barcelona on a 15-day escorted coach tour.
Tour overview
This 15-day escorted tour makes a grand loop through Spain and Portugal, ending in Barcelona and Catalonia. A tour director accompanies the group throughout, with local experts in the main cities, and you travel on a luxury air-conditioned coach with extra legroom. You stay in well-located hotels in each city, and 14 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 5 dinners are included, from a welcome dinner in Madrid to paella in Valencia and a cava tasting in Catalonia. Airport transfers are included on the start and end dates. International flights are not.
Madrid opens with a tour of its historic quarters and a visit to the Prado with an art historian. You walk through Segovia beneath its Roman aqueduct and Alcázar, then explore golden Salamanca before crossing into Portugal. In Porto you visit the port lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia, and on the way south you stop at the pilgrimage shrine of Fátima and the walled town of Óbidos before two nights in Lisbon, with the Belém quarter and its monuments to the age of discovery.

Through the Algarve you return to Spain for two nights in Seville, with time for its cathedral, the Alcázar and an evening of flamenco. You visit the Rock of Gibraltar and St Michael's Cave, relax for a day on the Costa del Sol, and share a home-cooked lunch with a family in the white village of Alfarnatejo before reaching Granada and the Alhambra.
The last leg follows the Mediterranean to Valencia, with its City of Arts and Sciences and a paella dinner, and along the coast to the sea castle of Peñíscola. In the Penedès wine country you stop at Sant Sadurní d'Anoia for a light lunch with a cava tasting, before two nights in Barcelona. A local expert shows you the Passeig de Gràcia and Gaudí's modernist buildings, including the Sagrada Família, with time to explore the Gothic Quarter before a farewell dinner.
The physical rating is low, with several relaxed starts and free time. This tour suits travellers who want the highlights of both countries, including Catalonia, in comfort and with everything arranged.
