This 8-day escorted holiday combines a relaxing week on Portugal's Algarve coast with two included excursions, one of them across the border to Seville. You stay in one hotel for the whole holiday, so there is no packing and unpacking, and return flights to Faro, transfers and coach travel are all included. You are looked after throughout by an experienced tour director. Your base is the four-star Hotel Alba in Monte Gordo, around 300m from the beach, with a spa and two swimming pools. Seven breakfasts are included, with a half-board upgrade available for a supplement.
On arrival in Faro, the Algarve's capital, you meet your tour director and drive along the south coast to the seaside town of Monte Gordo, close to the Spanish border. Your first full day is free to enjoy the town, its restaurant-lined seafront and nearby woodland trails. Monte Gordo has a long sandy beach and a relaxed seafront, and the town is a short drive from the Spanish border and the river Guadiana.

The first included excursion heads west to some of the Algarve's most picturesque spots. In Lagos you take a guided tour of the walled old town, with its cobbled alleys and family-run taverns, then continue to Sagres and the cliffs of Cape St Vincent, the south-western tip of mainland Europe, once thought to be the end of the world.
Later in the week you cross into Spain by coach for a tour of Seville with an expert local guide. Orange trees line the streets of the great city of flamenco, and your visit begins at its vast Gothic cathedral, among the largest in the world, before time to explore the old town and its tapas bars. Other days are yours to relax by the pool, visit the spa or stroll the promenade, and there is an optional excursion east to the fishing port of Olhão, Faro's old town and the riverside town of Tavira.
The physical rating is low. This holiday suits travellers who want an easy, sociable week in the sun, with a little sightseeing and plenty of time to unwind, and the reassurance of flights and a tour director arranged.
