Riverside Luxury Cruises

The reborn Crystal River — six-star refurbished river fleet

When Crystal Cruises folded in 2022, their five river ships were sold to a Riverside Investment Group consortium and rebranded Riverside Luxury Cruises. Riverside Mozart, Bach, Ravel, Debussy and Mahler now sail Europe's rivers as refurbished six-star ships — all-inclusive, all-suite, with the larger-than-average cabin sizing that defined Crystal River.

Why book Riverside Luxury Cruises

Why a Riverside Luxury Cruises voyage?

Six reasons we recommend this line to the right kind of traveller.

Reborn from the legendary Crystal River fleet

These ships were built in 2016-19 to Crystal's exacting standards and were considered the best-equipped river fleet at launch. The Riverside ownership preserved the build quality, refurbished interiors, and re-introduced six-star service standards.

Largest cabin sizes on the rivers

Standard suites are 219 sq ft (compared to 150-200 sq ft on most river lines); larger suites scale up to 760 sq ft on the Riverside Mahler. The most spacious river cabins available, with king beds and large bathrooms.

Genuinely all-inclusive

All meals (including specialty restaurants), all drinks (including premium spirits) any time, butler service in every suite, daily excursions across multiple tiers, WiFi, gratuities. A short list of paid extras — the proposition is fully inclusive.

Adults-only on European rivers

Riverside is adults-only on the European river fleet — quiet, refined, no kids' programming. For travellers wanting the quiet, adult atmosphere of luxury river cruising.

The honest version

Might not be for you if…

No cruise line is for everyone. Here's where Riverside Luxury Cruises might not fit. We'll point you elsewhere if so.

You're budget-led

Riverside is at the top end of river-cruise pricing — six-star ultra-luxury inclusions. For premium-mid pricing, Emerald, AmaWaterways or Avalon are alternatives.

You want family-friendly river

Adults-only across the European fleet. For family river, AmaWaterways themed family departures or A-Rosa.

You want a long brand history

The Riverside brand only emerged in 2023 (though the ships and crew traditions are older). For longer river-cruise heritage, Viking, AmaWaterways or Uniworld carry more legacy weight.

FAQ

Quick answers about Riverside Luxury Cruises

Is this really the same fleet as Crystal River?
Yes — the same five physical ships (Mozart, Bach, Ravel, Debussy, Mahler), now owned by Riverside Investment Group and operated as Riverside Luxury Cruises. The Crystal River brand is gone but the physical product (built 2016-19) has been refurbished and continues sailing.
How does Riverside compare to Scenic or Uniworld?
Similar all-inclusive ultra-luxury tier. Riverside has the largest cabins of the three. Scenic has the most futuristic design (Sun Lounge balconies). Uniworld has the most boutique-hotel décor. All three are excellent — we can quote for your dates.
Why is the ocean-adjacent Crystal back too?
Different ownership. The ocean fleet (Crystal Symphony, Crystal Serenity) was bought by A&K Travel Group and operates as Crystal. The river fleet was bought separately by Riverside Investment Group and operates as Riverside. Two different companies, same heritage.
