Why a Adventure Canada voyage?
Six reasons we recommend this line to the right kind of traveller.
Northwest Passage and Canadian Arctic specialists
Adventure Canada has been operating the Northwest Passage since 1987 — that's 30+ years of pioneering Arctic transit experience. They were among the first commercial operators to make the route accessible to travellers, and their itineraries are designed by people who genuinely know the region.
Inuit cultural educators on every voyage
Adventure Canada's expedition team always includes Inuit cultural educators, throat singers, drum dancers and elders. Onboard learning is genuine cultural exchange, not abstract anthropology. Voyages contribute to Northern community programmes.
Family-led, family-feeling
Adventure Canada is run by the Swan family (founder Bill Swan plus two generations now operating). Most repeat guests know the family by name. The atmosphere is closer to a private expedition club than a cruise line.
Strong scholarly programme
Resource staff per voyage typically include marine biologists, historians, photographers, geologists, archaeologists, ornithologists. Plus regular guest authors and broadcasters. The lecture programme rivals scholarly seminars.
Might not be for you if…
No cruise line is for everyone. Here's where Adventure Canada might not fit. We'll point you elsewhere if so.
You want luxury polar cruising
Adventure Canada is premium-expedition, not luxury-expedition. Comfortable but not lavish. For luxury polar, look at Hapag-Lloyd Hanseatic, Silversea or Atlas Ocean.
You want sun and beach
Adventure Canada is Northern. Routes go to the Arctic, sub-Arctic, Newfoundland and Labrador. For tropical small-ship, Pandaw, Paul Gauguin or Aranui.
You want shorter cruises
Most Adventure Canada voyages are 11-25 nights — the Northern destinations require it. Shorter Arctic cruises don't really exist (you can't hop the Northwest Passage in 7 days).
