Where to stay in Peloponnese

Most hotels are in Messinia in the south-west, an easy drive from Kalamata airport. Kyllini, in the north-west, is close to Olympia.

When to go to the Peloponnese

The season runs from May to October. July and August are hot, often above 30°C, while May, June, September and October are perfect for combining the beach with sightseeing at Olympia, Mycenae and Mystras.

Getting there and getting around

Flights to Kalamata take about three and three-quarter hours. Transfers to the south-west coast are 30 minutes to an hour and a half; Kyllini is around two and three-quarter hours away. Hiring a car is the best way to explore the ancient sites and Mani villages.
