Alexandros Palace sits on the peaceful Athos peninsula in Halkidiki, between Nea Roda and the characterful harbour town of Ouranoupolis. The setting is all about sea views and sunsets, backed by rugged hills and looking out towards the monasteries of Mount Athos.
The nearest shops, bars and tavernas are around 240m away, while the hotel’s own path leads down to a sandy beach just a short walk from the main buildings. From nearby Ouranoupolis port you can hop on daily ferries and boat trips to admire Mount Athos from the water or head across to the little island of Ammouliani, known for its powder-soft beaches and crystal-clear coves.

Water babies are spoilt for choice at Alexandros Palace.
Outside, you’ll find three freshwater pools, including a dedicated children’s pool and two larger pools each with a children’s section. Spacious sunbathing areas come with sunbeds and parasols, and pool towels are provided with a refundable deposit.
For extra splash-filled fun there’s an on-site aqua park and splash park, complete with sprinklers, buckets, water cannons, water guns and small slides – opening daily in split sessions (usually 10:00–14:00 and 16:00–18:00). Age, height or weight restrictions may apply for specific features.
If you’re craving a quieter swim, head to the indoor adults-only pool in the spa centre. Down at the coast, a sandy beach about 350m away offers sunbathing and swimming in clear, shallow waters, with motorised and non‑motorised water sports such as canoeing, kayaking, pedalos, windsurfing, scuba diving and snorkelling available through an external operator (local charges; minimum age and conditions apply).
Spa, sports & wellness
Wellness fans can escape to the spa centre, which features a sauna, steam room, whirlpool and an indoor adults-only pool. A menu of massages and beauty treatments is available for guests 18+ (charges apply; opening hours may vary by occupancy).
The gym is equipped with cardio machines, strength-training kit and free weights. Guests aged 18 and over can use the gym by reservation between roughly 10:00 and 18:00.
Active types can enjoy basketball, tennis, volleyball and table tennis, while the entertainment team organises occasional daytime activities, especially between mid-June and mid‑September, including water-based fun. Thalassa Buffet Restaurant is the main hub, serving buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner with a mix of Greek and international favourites, live stations and a dedicated kids’ buffet. Highchairs are available and there’s a smart-casual dress code in the evenings (no beachwear; long trousers requested for gentlemen).
Between meals, you can snack at the Ammos Pool Bar or seasonal Aura Pool Bar, both by the pools, while the Beach Bar keeps you topped up with drinks and light bites steps from the sand (opening dates seasonal and occupancy-dependent). Ouranoupolis is an atmospheric gateway to Mount Athos, with a pretty harbour, Byzantine tower and boat trips to surrounding islands and monasteries. It’s easy to explore on foot or by local boat, and Thessaloniki city can be visited on a day trip for shopping and culture.
Approximate flight time from the UK to Thessaloniki: around 3.5–4 hours, followed by a coach transfer of about 2 hours to Alexandros Palace. Seasonal facilities, entertainment and water parks may operate at limited times outside peak summer; some services and activities incur extra charges.
