Tour overview

This 7-day small-group trip combines Malta's capital with three relaxed nights on Gozo, mixing history, local food and coastal walks. Groups have up to 12 travellers aged 15 and over, with a local leader throughout. You stay six nights in comfortable hotels, two in Valletta, three on Gozo and a final night back in Valletta. Breakfast is included daily, with a lunch in Mdina and a snack at a village bakery on Gozo, leaving plenty of freedom to try pastizzi, rabbit stew and fresh seafood.

From a 6pm welcome meeting in Valletta, you set out next morning on a guided walking tour of the capital, stopping at a traditional café for Maltese coffee before visiting St John's Co-Cathedral, the Knights of St John's glittering Baroque church. A day trip around Malta follows, starting at the fishing village of Marsaxlokk, with its market and colourful luzzu boats. You visit the prehistoric temples of Ħaġar Qim, take a boat into the Blue Grotto's sea caves and have lunch in a local restaurant in the walled city of Mdina before crossing to Gozo.

On Gozo you explore Victoria's ancient Citadel and its museums, including the Gozo Museum of Archaeology and the Gran Castello Historic House. A coastal cliff hike from Xlendi, a visit to a village bakery and a walk to the Roman-era salt pans at Xwejni, where a local family explains how they have harvested salt for generations, show you the island's slower pace of life. A free day lets you swim, dive or explore at leisure.

You return to Valletta for a final night, with time to wander its honey-coloured streets and harbour viewpoints.

The physical rating is medium, with walks on uneven coastal paths. This trip suits active travellers who want a small-group, local-feeling introduction to Malta and Gozo at a good price. Solo travellers share a room at no extra cost. Your local leader shares tips on the best places to eat and swim, and the flexible free time means you can shape the trip around your own interests, from diving to museum visits or simply enjoying Gozo's peaceful bays.
