Dubai is the natural halfway point on the way to Mauritius, so a three-night stop costs little extra time and breaks the long journey in two. Stay in Dubai Marina, close to the beach at JBR and the tram, and spend your days between the Burj Khalifa, the souks of Deira and an evening in the desert. Then fly on with Emirates to Mauritius, about six and a half hours away.
In Mauritius you stay on a small peninsula in the south-east, looking across the Blue Bay lagoon to Île aux Aigrettes and the mountains behind Mahébourg. It is a quieter corner of the island, with calm water for snorkelling and kayaking and only a short drive from the airport. Dinner is included each evening.

Dubai Marina is a lively waterfront of cafés and promenades, a short walk from the beach at JBR. From here the metro and taxis reach Downtown, the Creek and the old souks easily.
The south-east coast around Mahébourg and Blue Bay is greener and quieter than the north. The lagoon here is a protected marine park, and the airport is only about 20 minutes away.

Best time to go: October to December and April to May suit both places best: Dubai is comfortably warm and Mauritius is dry and sunny. June to September is Mauritius's cooler winter and usually the best value, while January to March is hot and humid with a chance of cyclones.
