Split, the islands or the riviera?
Split: live inside a Roman emperor’s palace, with bars, restaurants and ferries on the doorstep. Hvar: glamorous Hvar Town, lavender fields and the historic Stari Grad. Brač: peaceful villages, the famous Zlatni Rat beach at Bol and a short ferry from Split. The Makarska Riviera (Makarska, Tučepi) and Omiš: long pebble beaches backed by the Biokovo mountains. A twin-centre of Split and an island is a great choice.
