Agadir or Taghazout Bay?
Agadir: a modern city with a long, sheltered sandy beach, a promenade lined with cafés and restaurants, golf courses and a busy souk. It is great for families and all-inclusive holidays. Taghazout Bay: around 20 to 30 minutes north, a newer resort of five-star beachfront hotels, a golf course and the laid-back surf village of Taghazout. It is perfect for couples and a more luxurious stay.

When to go and getting there
Agadir is a true year-round destination. Winter days are typically around 20 °C with lots of sunshine, spring and autumn are warm and perfect, and summer is hot but tempered by Atlantic breezes. Flights take around four hours from the UK, and hotels are around 30 to 45 minutes from Agadir airport. Remember the Atlantic is cooler than the Mediterranean, so heated pools are a bonus in winter.
Things to do and what to eat
Ride the cable car to the hilltop Kasbah for views over the bay, browse the Souk El Had, play golf on one of the area’s many courses, take a surf lesson in Taghazout, explore the waterfalls and palm gorge of Paradise Valley, or take a day trip to the walled town of Taroudant or Essaouira. Try a tagine, freshly grilled fish at the port, amlou (an almond and argan spread) and, of course, fresh mint tea.
