Atzavara Hotel & Spa sits in Santa Susanna on the Costa Barcelona stretch of the Costa Brava, a seafront resort known for its long golden beaches and palm-fringed promenade. The hotel is just a short stroll from the resort centre, where cafés, bars and family-friendly restaurants line the main strip, and only 400m from the wide, gently shelving beach – great for paddling and watersports.
This is a handy base if you like exploring: vibrant Lloret de Mar and pretty Blanes are around 20 minutes’ drive, while the medieval city of Girona and Barcelona’s iconic sights are both easy day trips by train or car.

Pool & outdoors
The resort is a dream for pool-lovers, with six outdoor saltwater pools to choose from, plus two separate kids’ pools.
You’ll find spacious sunbathing terraces furnished with sunbeds, parasols and stylish Balinese beds (beds incur an extra charge), along with baby-changing facilities near selected pools. One of the pools is adults-only, ideal when you’re craving some quiet time, while the children’s pool with a dedicated section is heated between early June and the end of October for extra comfort.
Fresh pool towels are available free of charge, so there’s no need to pack your own.
Santa Susanna’s wide sandy beach is around 400m away. The gently sloping shoreline makes it great for paddling and younger families, with plenty of watersports and beach cafés along the promenade.
Spa, sports & wellness
The hotel’s signature spa is the place to switch off, featuring a sauna, steam room and whirlpool, plus a menu of massages and beauty treatments (all spa facilities and treatments incur extra charges; seasonal opening, usually from 09:00–20:00).
If you prefer to keep active, there’s an air-conditioned gym with cardio and strength equipment (typically open 07:00–23:00, June–November), plus a programme of fitness classes such as aerobics, aqua aerobics, dance, pilates and yoga.
Day and evening entertainment runs most of the season. Expect arts and crafts, small team games, family activities and water-based fun in the daytime, followed by live music, DJs, mini-discos and professional shows in the evening. Activity schedules vary across the summer and autumn and are subject to change.
Families are well looked after with two children’s pools, kids’ menus, highchairs and a children’s club (5–12yrs) offering arts and crafts, sports, story time and drama and music sessions on selected dates.
