Kruger Safari & Mozambique Beach with Flights – 13 Days
Sanctuary Mandela, six nights at a Kruger safari camp and three nights on a Mozambique beach, with UK flights.
Tour overview
This 13-day escorted holiday combines a Kruger safari with a beach stay in Mozambique, with flights from the UK included. A tour leader and wildlife specialist travel with you on safari, and a representative looks after you at the beach resort. You stay in three special places: Sanctuary Mandela, a boutique hotel in Nelson Mandela's former Johannesburg home; Camp Bethel, a tented safari camp near Hoedspruit; and a beach resort on the Machangulo Peninsula. Most meals are included, with drinks including local beer and wine at the safari camp, and all transfers, including a private speedboat to the beach resort.
After an overnight flight, you spend your first night at Sanctuary Mandela, with a heritage tour of the house and the Nelson Mandela Foundation. You then travel to Camp Bethel for six nights, a tented camp with a boma and a deck looking over the bush. From here you head into Kruger National Park on three guided safaris, including a full day, in search of the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino.

Between game drives there is a visit to a wildlife rehabilitation centre caring for injured animals, a guided nature walk around the camp, and a panoramic tour of the Drakensberg escarpment and the Blyde River Canyon, with viewpoints such as God's Window and the Three Rondavels. The safari section ends with a final drive in a private reserve in Greater Kruger, a visit to the Nyani cultural village with music and dance, and a braai, a South African barbecue, in the bush.
The pace then slows. A drive to Maputo and a speedboat crossing bring you to a beach resort on the Machangulo Peninsula for three nights, with a pool, a spa, a private beach and an ocean-facing bar for watching the sunset. Days are free to relax, walk through the mangroves or visit nearby villages before the flight home.
The physical rating is low, and the holiday welcomes children aged six and over. It suits travellers who want an affordable, well-organised safari and beach combination with flights included.
