Tour overview

This 6-day holiday spends Christmas in a snowy Alpine village in the Austrian Tyrol, with flights, half board and festive celebrations all arranged. The price includes return flights from a choice of UK airports to Zurich or Innsbruck with one piece of hold luggage, plus airport transfers and coach travel. You stay five nights at the recently upgraded four-star Hotel Basur in the little village of Flirsch am Arlberg, with breakfast and dinner every day, a welcome drink on arrival and a three-course turkey lunch on Christmas Day. A tour director looks after you throughout.

After arriving and settling in, you head east to Innsbruck, capital of the Tyrol. You see the Wilten Monastery and the Olympic ski jump on the edge of the city, then explore the old town and its Golden Roof, with time to browse the Christmas market. Back in Flirsch, a guided lantern walk through the village is a magical way to experience the Alpine winter.

On Christmas Eve you can take an optional excursion through the Tyrol's winter scenery to Seefeld, one of Austria's most famous resorts, before a Glühwein and festive dinner at the hotel. On Christmas Day morning you visit the nearby resort of St Anton, one of Europe's premier ski areas, before returning to the hotel for a three-course Christmas lunch of turkey and all the trimmings.

The following day you can relax in and around the hotel or join an optional trip across the border to Bavaria to see King Ludwig II's fairy-tale Neuschwanstein Castle on its rocky crag, before your flight home.

The physical rating is low, with walking on snowy paths. This holiday suits travellers who want a traditional, sociable Christmas in the mountains, with snow-covered scenery, hearty food and every detail taken care of. The holiday departs once, on 22 December 2026. Your hosts at the family-run hotel go out of their way to make Christmas special, and with your tour director on hand there is nothing to organise, leaving you free to enjoy the mountain air, the food and the company.
