Luxury Peru, Chile & Argentina: Machu Picchu to Mendoza – 18 Days
An Amazon eco-lodge, two visits to Machu Picchu, Valparaíso, Mendoza's wineries and Buenos Aires, in hand-picked hotels.
Tour overview
This 18-day small-group journey combines the highlights of Peru with the cities and wine country of Chile and Argentina, staying in premium hotels throughout. Groups have up to 12 travellers aged 15 and over, with leaders and local expert guides, and all flights between destinations are included. Feature stays include two nights at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción, an eco-lodge in the Amazon, and two nights in a restored 1885 house in Valparaíso. Fifteen breakfasts, six lunches and five dinners are included, with special meals along the way.
After a welcome dinner in Lima, you fly to Puerto Maldonado and travel by motorised canoe to Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción. Here you glide across Lake Sandoval in a dug-out canoe looking for red howler monkeys, giant otters and macaws, and explore the rainforest with naturalist guides. Evenings at the lodge are spent listening to the sounds of the forest.

In Cusco, the former Inca capital, you have time to explore at your own pace before travelling through the Sacred Valley, visiting the AMA social-enterprise project and sharing a home-cooked lunch, to Ollantaytambo. The panoramic 360 Machu Picchu Train takes you to Aguas Calientes for a guided visit to the citadel, and you return before sunrise the next morning for a second visit to explore further. Cusco's cobbled streets are lined with Inca stone walls, colonial churches and excellent restaurants.
Flying via Lima to Santiago, you tour the Lastarria district and historic centre with a local guide and enjoy a gourmet bodega lunch, then stay two nights in Valparaíso's UNESCO-listed old town, with a pisco sour on a rooftop above the bay. A flight across the Andes brings you to Mendoza for winery visits and a gourmet lunch among the vines, and the journey ends in Buenos Aires with an orientation tour and a day in the Tigre and Paraná Delta with a home-cooked lunch. Santiago sits beneath the Andes.
The physical rating is medium, with altitude in Cusco and walking at Machu Picchu. This tour suits travellers who want three countries' highlights in comfort, with excellent food and characterful hotels. Single rooms are available for a supplement.
