Galápagos & Peru Adventure: Islands, Amazon & Inca Trail – 24 Days
A week island-hopping in the Galápagos, the Peruvian Amazon, the Inca Trail with three nights camping, and Lake Titicaca.
Tour overview
This 24-day small-group adventure links three of South America's greatest experiences: the wildlife of the Galápagos Islands, the Peruvian Amazon and the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, ending at Lake Titicaca and La Paz. Groups have up to 16 travellers aged 15 and over, with local leaders in each country. You travel by plane, speedboat, private bus and train, and stay mostly in hotels, with two nights in a jungle lodge, three nights camping on the Inca Trail in twin-share tents set up by porters (bring your own sleeping bag) and a night with a local family on Lake Titicaca. Many activities and a good number of meals are included, as well as internal flights.
After a walking tour of Quito's historic centre, you fly to the Galápagos and spend a week island-hopping, staying on land. On San Cristóbal you take a boat to Kicker Rock to snorkel among sea lions and look for frigatebirds and blue-footed boobies, and visit the interpretation centre and Cerro Tijeretas. Isabela brings Shark Alley, the flamingo lagoon, the giant tortoise breeding centre, kayaking and a hike to the vast crater of Sierra Negra volcano. On Santa Cruz you visit an organic farm and take a cooking class, walk to Tortuga Bay and visit the Charles Darwin Research Station.

Flying via Quito to Lima, you head into the Amazon from Puerto Maldonado for two nights at a jungle lodge, with guided treks to learn about the rainforest's plants and wildlife. Cusco and the Sacred Valley follow, then the classic four-day Inca Trail over Dead Woman's Pass at 4,200 metres to the Sun Gate and Machu Picchu. Travellers who prefer can take the Quarry Trail or the train.
The last stage crosses the high Altiplano to Puno on Lake Titicaca, with visits to the floating Uros Islands, a homestay in the Llachón community and Taquile Island, known for its hand-knitted textiles, before crossing into Bolivia to La Paz.
The physical rating is medium, with a challenging trek at altitude and long travel days. This trip suits active travellers who want to see the very best of the region in one journey.

What financial protection do I get?
Every Travelisto booking is 100% financially protected. Your money is held in a ring-fenced Trust account until you return from your trip, and we are members of the Protected Trust Services scheme (PTS 6035). Most tours also include ATOL protection where flights are part of the package.
Do we stay on a boat in the Galápagos?
No. You stay in hotels on the islands and travel between them by speedboat.
What is the camping like?
Three nights in twin-share tents on the Inca Trail, set up by porters. Bring your own sleeping bag.
Are internal flights included?

Will the altitude affect me?
Cusco, the Inca Trail and Lake Titicaca are at high altitude. Take it easy and seek medical advice before travel.
Do I need visas?

Can you tailor the trip?
Yes — every escorted tour can be modified into a private tailor-made version with your own dates, adjusted pace, upgraded hotels and add-on extensions. Tell us what you'd like changed when you enquire and we'll quote it both ways so you can compare.
What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
