Where to stay in Sitges? Famous for its pristine beaches, well-preserved old town, and bustling nightlife but to make the most of it all you must choose the right accommodations. If you want to stay closer to the action or seeking total relaxation, here you’ll have the best options on where to stay in Sitges, Spain.
Sitges is a coastal town in the Catalonia region of Spain. Nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the Garraf Mountains, it’s a picture-perfect spot. Peak season is July and August when temperatures can reach the mid 30’s degrees but if you like to party you may also consider June when Sitges Pride takes place or September when Sitges Bear Week is run every year. No wonder it is often called “The Gay Riviera”.
Sitges is not very big and you can comfortably walk from one end to the other in about half an hour. There are different areas to stay depending on your likes:
Around the gay bars area (Town Centre)
This is one of the busiest and most popular areas in Sitges. Possibly the best place to stay for your first visit as it is more touristy but you will not miss out on anything. Most of the gay bars are around the Plaça Indústria where Parrot’s Pub is – which is a good starting point and the preferred spot for people-watching too. The Platja Bassa Rodona beach is fabulous it has many hotels right in the middle all of the action.
Port de Sitges – Aiguadolç
Staying in the Port area offers great views, a quieter atmosphere and some of the top hotels in the town – however you’ll need a 20 minute walk to the town centre. It is a short walk to the popular semi-nude Balmins beach, which is a fairly secluded Cala (cove).
Further south along the coastline
There are plenty of other great hotel options down the coastline, some of them are fantastic beachfront properties with wide balconies and larger rooms. Also down south but more inland, you’ll also find Dolce by Wyndham which it’s among the top hotels in the area, just a bit less convenient as it is not close to the sea. However, it is closer to the popular gay nudist beach of Platja de l’Home Mort which has been a gay haven since at least the 1930s.
