One Week in Jordan for 18–35s: Wadi Rum & Petra – 7 Days
Two nights in a Wadi Rum desert camp, two days in Petra and a Dead Sea float, for travellers aged 18 to 35.
Tour overview
This 7-day trip is a fast, social introduction to Jordan for travellers aged 18 to 35, packing in the desert, Petra and the Dead Sea at great value. Groups have up to 16 travellers, with a local leader throughout and private transport between stops. You stay six nights: four in simple three- and four-star hotels on a twin or multi-share basis, and two in a Bedouin-style desert camp in Wadi Rum. Six breakfasts, one lunch and two dinners are included, leaving plenty of chances to try falafel, shawarma and mezze in local spots.
The trip starts in Amman, where you meet the group at a 6pm welcome meeting. Next morning your leader takes you on a walking tour from the hilltop Citadel down to the Roman Theatre, with stops at nut shops and souqs, and a visit to the Royal Automobile Museum, before you head south to the desert.

In Wadi Rum, the valley of red sands and towering cliffs where Lawrence of Arabia rode, you spend two nights at a Bedouin-style camp. Wake early for the sunrise, then jump into a jeep for a 4WD safari past Lawrence Spring, dunes and rock bridges, with a guided desert hike and evenings around the campfire under a sky full of stars.
You then have two full days in Petra on a two-day pass. Your leader guides you through the Siq to the Treasury and explains the history of this rock-carved Nabataean city, and the second day is yours to climb the 800 steps to the Monastery, hike to viewpoints or explore the Royal Tombs at your own pace. On the final day you travel the King's Highway, stopping to float in the Dead Sea at the lowest point on Earth, and finish in Madaba, home to St George's Church and its famous mosaic map of the Holy Land.
The physical rating is medium, with walking in heat and some steep climbs in Petra. This trip suits young travellers who want a fun, affordable week of adventure, history and new friends. Hot water and air-conditioning can be limited. Solo travellers share a room at no extra cost.
