Journey Through Jordan with Flights: Petra & Wadi Rum – 8 Days
Jerash, Petra by day and by night, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, with UK flights, visa fees and most meals included.
Tour overview
This 8-day guided tour packs Jordan's greatest sights into a week, with return flights from the UK, airport transfers, entrance fees and Jordan visa fees for UK passport holders all included. You travel with a group of 12 to 28 travellers aged 12 and over, with daily guided touring. You stay seven nights in quality properties: three in Amman, two near Petra, one in a desert camp with en-suite private tents in Wadi Rum and one at a spa hotel on the shore of the Dead Sea. Seven breakfasts, six lunches and seven dinners are included.
After arriving in Amman, a history-soaked capital with a youthful feel, you take a city tour and drive to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities outside Italy, with its hippodrome and colonnaded streets, before visiting the 12th-century castle of Ajloun overlooking the Jordan Valley. Another day takes you to the desert castles, fine examples of early Islamic art and architecture, and back to Amman's Citadel and Roman Theatre, with a visit to a calligraphy house.

On the way south you stand on Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have seen the Holy Land, and see the Madaba Mosaic Map, the oldest surviving depiction of the region. In Petra you join a Levantine cookery class with a local chef, then explore the Lost City of the Nabateans, approached through the narrow Siq gorge. After sunset you return to see the Treasury lit by more than 1,500 candles.
Little Petra leads on to Wadi Rum, the Valley of the Moon, for a 4×4 drive among sandstone mountains, dunes and canyons on Lawrence's Road, and a night in the desert camp. The tour ends at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, where you can float in its salty waters or relax in the hotel spa.
The physical rating is low. This tour suits travellers who want a well-paced, great-value introduction to Jordan, with flights, entrance fees and most meals arranged. Because flights, transfers and visa fees are already arranged, all you need to do is pack, and the mix of ancient cities, desert landscapes and a night under the Wadi Rum sky shows how much variety a small country can hold.
