Luxury Chile & Argentina: Valparaíso, Mendoza & Buenos Aires – 9 Days
Food, wine and culture in hand-picked hotels: Santiago, a historic stay in Valparaíso, Mendoza's wineries and Buenos Aires, in a group of up to 12.
Tour overview
This 9-day small-group tour combines the best of Chile and Argentina, focusing on food, wine and culture, in a short and comfortable trip. Groups have up to 12 travellers aged 15 and over, with a leader throughout and local expert guides. You stay eight nights in hand-picked hotels, including two nights in a converted 1885 house in the historic heart of Valparaíso, and travel by private vehicle with included flights between Chile and Argentina. Eight breakfasts, three lunches and two dinners are included, with special dining experiences along the way, and an arrival transfer on the first day.
The trip begins with a welcome dinner in Santiago, followed by a tour with a local guide through the artistic Lastarria district, the historic centre and the city's markets, and a gourmet lunch at a traditional bodega. After a free morning to visit the Mercado Central, you travel to the coast. The hotel in Santiago is close to the Lastarria district's cafés, galleries and restaurants.

Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was South America's busiest port before the Panama Canal opened. Its hills are covered in brightly painted houses, street art and funiculars, and you explore them on foot before a pisco sour on a rooftop overlooking the bay. Staying in the old town means you can wander its lanes in the evening.
A flight across the Andes takes you to Mendoza, Argentina's most important wine region, producing nearly three-quarters of the country's wine. Here you visit wineries for tastings of Malbec, with a gourmet lunch among the vines and a dinner in the city. The final stop is Buenos Aires, with an orientation tour of the capital's grand avenues and neighbourhoods, and a day in the northern suburbs and the Paraná Delta, including a home-cooked lunch with a local family. The leafy Palermo district, where you stay, is full of restaurants and bars.
The physical rating is low. This tour suits food and wine lovers and couples who want a relaxed, comfortable introduction to two countries, with a small group and plenty of character in the hotels. Single rooms are available for a supplement.
