The Best Hotels in the Peloponnese: Costa Navarino, Messinia and the Mani

Discover The Romanos a Luxury Collection Resort a 5-star hotel in Greece
In this story

The Peloponnese is mainland Greece at its most beautiful and least crowded: olive groves running down to empty beaches, Venetian castles, stone villages and some of the most important ancient sites in the world. It is also home to Costa Navarino, one of the Mediterranean’s finest luxury resorts.

These nine hotels are the ones our guests rate most highly, from five-star resorts to charming family-run hideaways.

How we chose these hotels

We sell 24 hotels in the Peloponnese. To build this list we started with every hotel in the region, then read what our guests say: every hotel here is well rated on TripAdvisor. We spread our picks across different areas where we can, and we only include hotels you can book with us today as an ATOL-protected package with flights and transfers. Prices change daily, so use the search box at the end of this page for live availability, or ask a Travel Designer for a tailored shortlist.

When to go and getting there

May to October is the season, with June and September ideal: warm sea, quiet beaches and comfortable temperatures. July and August are hot. Flights to Kalamata take around three and a half hours from the UK. Costa Navarino is about 45 minutes from Kalamata airport, and the Mani villages around an hour to an hour and a half. Hiring a car is the best way to explore.

Things to do and what to eat

Visit ancient Olympia, home of the first Olympic Games, the hilltop ruins of Mystras, the citadel of Mycenae and the vast theatre at Epidaurus. Swim at the famous horseshoe-shaped Voidokilia beach, explore the Diros caves by boat and play golf at Costa Navarino. This is the home of Kalamata olives and some of Greece’s finest olive oil; try local pork with orange, fresh grilled fish, and wines from Nemea.
