Tour overview

This 7-day small-group adventure is based in one hotel on the shore of Lake Bohinj, the largest permanent lake in Slovenia, inside Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps. Each day brings a different way to explore the landscape: on foot, by e-bike, by paddleboard and by raft. Groups have 4 to 16 travellers aged 16 and over, with an expert tour leader and local mountain guides. All equipment for the included activities is provided. Breakfast is included every day, with two dinners. The trip is land-only, with group transfers available.

The week begins with a 12-kilometre hike around Lake Bohinj on gravel roads, forest paths and old wooden bridges. Your leader shares the legend of Zlatorog, the golden-horned chamois, and stories of how communities live alongside the national park. You also take a two-hour stand-up paddleboarding session on the lake and an evening lantern walk.

Next day, a one-hour train ride along the Idrijca and Soča rivers, one of Slovenia's most beautiful railway lines, takes you to Kanal ob Soči. From there you ride 38 kilometres by e-bike beside the emerald Soča and up into the hills of Goriška Brda, known as the Tuscany of Slovenia, finishing with a wine tasting led by a sommelier. A second e-bike loop of 30 kilometres around Bohinj passes canyons, caves and cascades, with a stop at a family-run farm.

An early start crosses the Julian Alps via Kranjska Gora, with a brief photo stop at Lake del Predil in Italy, into the Soča Valley. You can hike or choose an optional zipline, one of the longest in Europe. Then you raft the Soča with qualified skippers. On the last full day you walk the wooden boardwalks of Vintgar Gorge, a narrow chasm of rapids and pools, and explore Bled, with its island church and clifftop castle, before a farewell dinner.

You stay all six nights at Hotel Jezero, with lake-view balconies, a heated indoor pool and saunas. The activity level is moderate. The trip suits active travellers who want variety and fine alpine scenery without changing hotels.
