Peru & Bolivia: Andes, Amazon & Salt Flats (25 days)
Twenty-five days from Pacific Lima through the Peruvian Amazon and Machu Picchu, across Lake Titicaca into Bolivia's Uyuni salt flats and colonial Sucre.
Tour overview
This 25-day route traces a clear arc from Pacific Lima up to the Andean heights and out across the white expanse of the Uyuni salt flats. It takes in the Peruvian Amazon by canoe, the Sacred Valley and your choice of trail to Machu Picchu, a homestay on Lake Titicaca, and a three-day 4WD adventure across the altiplano into colonial Bolivia.
The trip combines the headline experiences both countries are famous for. You’ll spend two nights at a jungle eco-lodge in the Madre de Dios region, then climb to Cusco and the Sacred Valley to choose between the classic 4-day Inca Trail, the quieter Quarry Trail, or a rail approach to Machu Picchu — all routes finish with a guided morning at the citadel. From the lakeshore village on Titicaca you cross into Bolivia and head south by 4WD across Salar de Uyuni, past geysers, the Salvador-Dalí coloured lagoons and cactus-topped Inca Wasi. The trip closes with colonial Potosí, the UNESCO white city of Sucre, the world’s largest dinosaur-footprint site at Cal Orcko, and a pre-Inca trail walk near Chataquila before flying back to La Paz.

Honest disclaimer — please read
- You can't manage moderate-to-strenuous walking at altitude — the Inca Trail's Dead Woman's Pass tops out at 4,200 m, the Quarry Trail at 4,450 m, and the Uyuni 4WD route reaches 5,000 m
- You want luxury accommodation throughout — the trip is mostly 3★ hotels with two nights at an Amazon jungle lodge, three nights camping on the trek, a homestay and two basic desert stays
- You can't be flexible with luggage — main bags stay at the Cusco hotel during the Machu Picchu segment and you only access the trek 5 kg duffle in camp each evening
- You expect hot showers every night — the Titicaca homestay and the Uyuni community/dorm stays don't have showers
- You're tight on acclimatisation time — even with the built-in Cusco rest day, the altitude is real and demands hydration and rest
- You can't be flexible on Machu Picchu access — circuit and ticket types are managed by Peru's central authority, and your group may be split across circuits on the day
