Lung cancer patients with extenuating health problems may have an alternative to conventional radiation therapy through a new lung-sparing procedure. Patients with early stage non-small cell lung cancer responded well to high doses of radiation administered through an extracranial stereotactic procedure, according to researchers from the Indiana University School of Medicine (IU, Indianapolis, USA), who devised the technique.
