Researchers From Japan, France And The United States Detail New Studies And Findings In The Area Of Lung Cancer
Lung cancer data are the focus of recent research from Japan, France and the United States. Study 1: Lung cancer treatment planning should consider tumor volume (TV). "The aim of this study was to evaluate whether or not TV has an impact on survival in non-small cell lung cancer. In a retrospective analysis of 385 cases with NSCLC who underwent curative surgery between 1994 and 2003, we calculated the tumor volume by using an ellipsoidal formula. The patients were grouped according to TV as determined by histograms," researchers in Japan reported. "Gender, age, histology, nodal involvement, size, and TV were analyzed," explained A. Recent Findings From The United States And Netherlands Illuminate Research In Breast Cancer
Investigators in the United States and Netherlands have published new breast cancer data. Study 1: Early stage breast cancer treated with breast conservation therapy (BCT) had positive long-term results. According to recent research published in the Breast Journal, "We, as a large community practice, retrospectively reviewed our experience in treating early stage breast cancer to determine rates of BCT, disease outcomes after such treatment, and risk factors for local recurrence. A hospital tumor registry was used to identify breast cancer cases diagnosed between 1987 and 2003." "Rates of BCT and radiotherapy were examined using primary treatment data. For subsequent disease outcomes analyses, cases were limited to only those treat...
